Genetic Programming Applied to an Image Analysis Problem

Genetic programming has been applied to the automatic visual inspection of a biochemical microlaboratory. A software system for evolving pixel classifiers using techniques of genetic programming has been developed and used to evolve classifiers for image segmentation. An existing quality control system has been extended with functionality for inspecting a certain part of the microlaboratory, detecting and measuring anomalies and foreign objects. The image analysis software thus developed relies on the evolved classifiers.
